The Hood River Valley provides an ideal climate, rich volcanic soils and acreage suited to production of many wine varietals. Our vineyards, and those that supply us grapes feature a variety of topography, weather expose and soil types.

Mt. Hood Winery is driven by their agricultural history in the valley to create, maintain and respect the vines under our care. Our vineyard workers are passionate about grapes and have a personal relationship with our vines forged over many seasons. Our Estate vineyards are selected, hand-planted and managed by the Bickfords and and their vineyard manager.

The Columbia Gorge AVA, of which we are part, was federally approved in 2004. Due to the significant gradations of climate and geography found in the gorge, our AVA exhibits a wide range of terroir in a relatively small region which is why it is considered “world of wine in 40 miles”
